Bidrage med feedbackThis little unique bar and restraunt combination has some of the best eats one could want. Located about half way between Kenora and Fort Frances, this one-of-a-kind eatery is definitely not to be missed for those passing by. The food is top shelf. I highly recomend the pizza. The pizza is some of the best to be had. Plentiful toppings, thin crust (but not too thin) flavorful sauce and just some rare magic make their pizza stand tall above the rest. They have a plentiful menu, in fact a little to plentiful as I didn't make it all the way thru it before stopping at my go-to food item--a burger, which was delicious and those of you have read my reviews know I don't normally write about salad, however, I'll make an exception. I was presented with a salad one would expect to find in only the finest of restaurants-multiple lettuce varieties (possibly , Boston, leaf and romain) lined the bowl encapsulating a few grape tomatoes and other goodies (sorry I got distracted) by the amazing blue cheese dressing --it's a must have fore those of you who have a taste for it ... This place is not to be missed ... even though it's an hour out of my way, I'll be making the trek back because the food and atmosphere are that good...
When I first walked in, I was really surprised by this place. The carpet needs to be replaced BADLY, but if you can get past it, your experience will make you forget about the carpet. It's a great log cabin look with dollar bills all through the ceiling. You could read the ceiling for hours! The customers are encouraged to write something on a dollar bill and claim their space of fame..love it! There are 70 year old pictures throughout the bar of the area and there is some really awesome history here. The staff are seriously friendly and like to chat (If you don't want to chat, they won't bother you, they are just really small town friendly!). Now let's get to the food. I had a veggie quesadilla. It was really good and had a lot of peppers and tomatoes in it. Perfect amount of cheese. Since I was there with my friends...Well, the Beef Dip is seriously home made. You should see the amount of food you get with that order. And if you order nachos, you'll have enough for the next day. The nachos are awesomely loaded...Just not on the top. Best onion rings around! :) I liked it so much I went back again the next week. They close in October and open in April, so you'll have to wait, but it's worth it! I'm looking forward to going back in the spring for an order of nachos.
Our group makes a stop at Green's during each of our three annual trips to Lake of the Woods each year. The burgers are great, the wings are tasty, and the poutine is awesome! They typically have a dinner special each night, such as a prime rib, steak or chicken dinner. Also, there are certain nights where there are discounts on certain items, such as Wing Night.Plenty of parking if you're driving by land, and plenty of dock space if you're traveling by water. Be sure to get there early enough to get a seat on their deck to watch the sunset, as it's amazing as it drops over the horizon.
We stopped at Nestor Falls for lunch not knowing where to go when I saw an old green painted log building of Green's and decided to try it. It is situated on the west side of the highway, just south of the falls. We were pleasantly surprised at the charming old world ambiance of this building. It's history dates back to the early 1920's. The old wood bar in this large room has many pictures of the old camp throughout the years. The walls as well are filled with many pictures and memories, oh, and tons of fish!! We thought the menu had a lot to choose from. I had a chicken wrap which was really fresh and very tasty. The fries were freshly made and wow, there were lots of them! My husband had a clubhouse sandwich with fries. He enjoyed it as well. The waitress was very friendly. You can sit indoors or on the deck ouside that happens to have a million dollar view. We look forward to going there again.
Green's has been around a long time. Inside is a bar, restaurant open to it, then another room with windows the length of it, then a deck overlooking the water. It can be reached by either water or land. I would call it cozy and friendly inside. There are two tv;s, and the atmosphere is quite warm and welcoming. Not fancy at all but the food is generous and very good. Many of the Nestor Falls locals gather here for visiting and food. This is a small town, and Green's is an institution here.
