I went to this restaurant for lunch and was impressed by the friendly staff and delicious food. Even my seven-year-old son, who is a picky eater, finished his meal, which is quite the compliment. I would give the food a 4 out of 5, the service a 5 out of 5, and the atmosphere a 4 out of 5.

Popped here for lunch. The Downgate has a nice selection of food all freshly prepared and ample portions. I had the Cod and chips the meal came with peas, salad, coleslaw, tartar sauce. A very large well presented meal and good value for money. The staff are friendly and very attentive. Excellent lunch service keep it up. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5
