Bidrage med feedbackI hadn't been here in awhile, but was ono for a gyros chicken sandwich, which has been really tasty in the past. Yelped on the way (YOTW should be a thing, btw) to check current menu/pricing and was pleasantly surprised to find the prices haven't really hiked like everywhere else (please don't). Ordered 2 gyros sandwiches, 1 regular and 1 chicken, and both with fries. The fries is where they get you. The sandwich was only $10.95, but you can add a salad or fries to your sando for $5. Fries were hot and crispy, cooked to perfection. And the chicken gyros hit the spot! A little bit too much mayo, though. The same server we've seen for years was still there. He seems to be the only guy running the front of house, and does a great job. He isn't the most overtly friendly, but he isn't surly and always gets the job done right, which is a win in my book. My main gripe it's summer and we chose to sit inside, but I think the AC is broken? It wasn't as hot as sitting outside, but still stickier than we would've liked. Oh well. Food is good, price is good, service is efficient.
We ordered takeout as an easy weekday meal from Hawaii Kai 's Greek Marina, potentially from the grumpy, not-happy-see-a-customer owner. We wished we hadn 't. We ordered at the counter: souvlaki 's, two chicken and a shrimp, as well as two tabouleh salads. Insanely, $90! (I included a $5 tip in that because I used to work in restaurants. We waited just outside the restaurant, where we could see the counter. We were not given an anticipated wait time, and had to check twice to make sure our take out order hadn 't been forgotten. After 25-30 a second man checked with us and went back in to see if our food was done. Feel like we had to advocate to get our meal order. Finally, he came out with our meal. When we got home we discovered a lamb instead of the ordered shrimp. The taboulehs were watery and almost exclusively tomato and onion with almost no bulgur. The meat, especially the chicken was dry and hardly edible. I received tzatiki sauce (on the not-ordered lamb meal but the other entrees included straight mayonaise! But hey, it 's white, right?! Perhaps their dine-in exerience (would have to fix the incorrect meal, and maybe not have been under heat lamps for five-ten minutes . No kamaima discount. I followed up with the Egyptian (not Greek owner and suggested that since I ate the lamb (after a twenty minute ride home, hungry that he could not refund my card for one of the meals, as requested. When I mentioned that he sent mayo instead of tzatiki for the salads he said, That will happen. He offered A free baklava next time I came in, which clearly won 't happen. Very disappoining experience, for a lot of money. Would suggest taking the trip to Honolulu 's Kahala Olive Tree: high-quality food, accountability of ordering, friendly staff--cash only. Where 's Gordon Ramsey when you need him?
Eating out these days is rough. Inflation has resulted in absurd prices and less food, but somehow, Greek Marina just found a way to say No. My better half and I got lunch after a hike in the area, ordering the Gyro plate, fish sandwich, spanakopita, and baklava for dine in. I saw the prices and was thinking, hmmm, are we going to get taken for a ride with high prices and small portions? But to my delight, the friendly wait staff placed a generous order of gyro meat, Greek salad, and pita along with Tzatziki dip, a large fish sandwich, hefty spanakopita on even more salad, and a baklava that immediately made me think, I 'm glad we 're sharing this. The gyro plate was delicious with slight charred and very tasty gyro shaving. The salad was delicious but slightly overdressed, not that it 's really a bad thing as Greek dressing is way tasty and more importantly, way healthier than most dressings. The spanakopita was extra flaky with lots of spinach but got a bit soggy with the scoop of Tzatziki on it. Never had Tzatziki on spanakopita before, so this is a first. The fish sandwich was full of flavorful fried white fish served in a pita. I thought, this is too much meat which then triggered the thought of first world problems. We ate literally everything and then toyed with the idea of getting baklava. As we rarely eat Greek food, it was a relatively easy choice and the baklava was absolutely yummy, with crispy layers of baked filo dough, nuts, and honey along with two dollops of whipped cream. Staff are polite, efficient, but the place got busy as the lunch crowd came in. Bathroom is located in the restaurant and is relatively clean. You have the option of indoor or outdoor seating. Parking is shared with the other tenants. Would recommend, especially if you 're on the Hawaii Kai side of the island looking for Greek food.
Great place to eat Greek food in Hawaii!! The dips could be more flavorful (I thought Whole Foods tasted better) but very natural and fresh tasting!! Great pita, nice and warm and soft. The calamari steak tastes good to-go but even better when dining in. A bit pricey considering the plates are 50% salad, 20% rice, and 30% meat... great staff, very hardworking and proper. Eating at the outside tables for lunch was a great experience!!
The feedback is regarding the quality of the food. We've come here before thought it was great, but after a few years, it seemed like the consistency changed. Our chicken fish was dry. Okra was mushy. I've had better Okra other restaurants you can actually taste the Okra. I wonder if the staff or management has changed?
