Bidrage med feedbackOver a year ago, I learned that the long-time owner of Baja had retired, and the restaurant was taken over by two loyal patrons. Since then, I had only stopped by for drinks until a recent dinner visit. I noticed that the menu had changed, and my former favorite, the Alambre Cancun with grilled chicken and shrimp served with rice, was no longer available; it now featured only shrimp. So, I decided to order the Grilled Chicken Fajitas, another dish I used to enjoy frequently. While waiting for my meal, I savored the same tortilla chips and refreshing salsa I remembered. My wait wasn't long, as the server swiftly brought out the sizzling platter. The chicken was well-marinated and incredibly tender. It was accompanied by yellow rice, onions, peppers, guacamole, sour cream, and black beans (refried beans were also available). Overall, I thought the dish was excellent and noticeably less greasy than in the past. However, I would have appreciated more than just two thin slices of bell pepper; there used to be a lot more, and they were cut thicker. While it may not be the Baja you remember, it is still outstanding and definitely worth a visit.
I don't understand why they think it's acceptable to charge $25 for a basic burrito! It's completely unreasonable. This place has been struggling for a while, and it looks like it will continue to do so. We ordered two small appetizers and two margaritas and ended up paying over $80—what?! This is definitely our last visit. It seemed like they were starting to improve, but these prices are just outrageous. Good luck to them; the food was only a 5/10 at best, so we won't be returning!
The most alarming incident was when she approached a family with elderly members and children, saying, "You have to get up and get out." When they confronted her, she shouted, "Get the **** out." This family was incredibly nice and obviously taken aback by her aggression. To make matters worse, she even yanked the seat out from under an elderly man, causing chaos to ensue. Other tables came to defend the family, and it turned into utter mayhem. The owners eventually came out but instead of addressing the rude hostess, who appeared to be under the influence, they yelled at everyone and demanded we leave. Do not waste your money at this terrible restaurant! The service is atrocious, the staff is unprofessional and rude, and the management is utterly inept at handling such situations. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this place at all costs!
Terrible service and racist staff. The general manager Sherry thinks that she can be rude and racist and get away with it. She got in an argument with us over two missing dishes and accused us of lying in front of the entire restaurant. When we asked her to check the CCTV cameras or even count the number of plates, she asked us to leave and never come back. All this was after waiting for an hour for our order out of which only half the stuff came. I have been to Baja at least 5 times before and never experienced this. Needless to say, never going back.
Visited on a Saturday night (after visiting pier 13 and not liking any of the options there). Restaurant was pretty empty and we were seated immediately. Nicely decorated both inside and out. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Shrimp burrito was good but I never had a burrito where my rice was on the side so that was a little off putting. Also had a mojito which was good!
