Nice, small and attractive beer brewery and restaurant, building next to the distillery. In the style of the Industrial Revolution. Nice choice of own beers. Small menu but very tasty and super fresh.

Today we visited restaurant De Deftige aap for the first time. What a beautiful restaurant this is. Industrial simplicity in a beautiful monumental building makes dining here a real experience. For example, take a look inside at the roof construction, which looks beautiful and is beautifully lit. I like that. Also look at the glasses that are hung on a conveyor belt on the wall. I don't know if it is practical, but for me it does add something extra. It's just something different. But we're wondering what we came for because here too we ordered a 5-course surprise menu. Short but sweet, delicious! All five courses were in perfect order. Serious compliments to the chef. The dishes are beautifully served not only in terms of taste but also in appearance. Don't we have a point of attention? If I dig deep, I think of the chicken stock, which was perhaps a bit simple and the coconut bavarois could have been a little better in taste and finer in structure. But the food is certainly more than good. The different beers (including home-brewed ones) are also a nice part of the concept. The brewery is located in/next to the building. A genius combination. Let me be crazy for once. 5 stars for De Deftige Aap. I had doubts, but so much good comes together here that this is truly a unique restaurant in Helmond. Something to be proud of.

The name alone invites you to have a nice drink. Add to that the original menu and home-brewed beers and the ingredients for great moments are there. Nice, hardworking staff and surprisingly good food; from sandwiches to dinner to drinks boards. In short, just a super nice tent! Recommended!

We sat comfortably and had a delicious meal. Had the 3-course surprise menu and was very pleased with it. They have small tasting glasses, so you can taste some beers. Staff nice, friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back again!
