Bidrage med feedbackLovely old pub, very quirky but could do with tidy up and de-clutter. Food was very good if a little pricy by pub standards. Drinks very overpriced, £6.20 for a pint of Guinness which was unfortunately not the best, £2.50 for a tonic water. May look elsewhere next time in the area.
As a first time visitor I was expecting a charming, traditional, welcoming country pub but my experience was anything but charming and welcoming. Upon entry the barman scowled at us and then proceeded to chat to a couple of regulars sat at the other side of the bar. It gave off a ‘local pub for local people’ vibe. The whole place felt cliquey, dirty and in desperate need of some TLC. To add insult to injury I was charged £12 for two pints of bland, Theakston swill.
Lovely food in chilled atmosphere I always come here when I visit harrogate. It's not cheap
Wow, what a little hidden gem of a pub. We went here after seeing a youtube video of the nearby Harrogate Caravan Park (separate google review for that! I have to say that I wasn 't all that excited about going to this pub for food as on the video, it just looked a bit pub grubby but was happy to go for a pint. Well I was totally surprised by the quality of the food. It 's absolutely beautiful. I had the sausage and mash, Mrs J had the Steak and Ale Pie with mash and both meals were amazing. This isn 't pub grub, this is top quality food at reasonable prices. They also serve Moretti which will always tick a box for me. The pub is very old and the decor could be improved but all in all, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend.
Decided to take an evening walk with friends to the Travellers Rest and have some drinks. Arrived about 8.15, inside was pretty empty and there were about 5 other tables being used outside. We were told at about 9pm that they would be closing by 9.30 because the staff wanted to get off because of Leeds United playing! By 9.30 we were rushed to leave. This has happened before at the Travellers Rest when they shut early (at a time decided by staff) and as a customer you end up feeling like an inconvenience. They should decide whether they want to stay open properly in the evenings, or focus on lunches dinners. They also may argue that the place was very quiet so not worth staying open (although this time the reason was football), however if customers are told to go home early then they’re not really going to choose it as a place to go for evening drinks. It’s a shame as well as it could be a lovely pub. I’ll be trying somewhere else where they value their customers and you know the evening won’t be cut short.
