Bidrage med feedbackWaited forever for my food when the place was not busy at all.
This is a brand new branch of The Shack in Gymea and the actual shop is formerly known as The Wine Room. I had breakfast and lunch there today as I was
Visited the Shack at Gymea about 2 weeks ago We placed our order and paid at 11.10 Place was not busy but tables had not been cleared.
We have visited the Shack on three occasions so as to give it a chance. The first time we just had a coffee and it is average.Second time ordered lunch for two people, they overcharged $14 for the ordered meal - waited for 25 minutes no meal. When we inquired about meals were told what we had order was no longer available, would be like to chose something else. The third and last time we visited (2 people) for an early lunch at 11am they took our orders, we received coffee. As it is a very open kitchen we could see the two people cooking the food doing absolutely nothing and chatting with the girl on the register. After approaching the girl at the register at 11.35 she checked the chefs who said they hadn't been given the order. She didn't really seem to care. Said they would cook it then, told them not to bother....at 11.45 one of us needed to go back to work. Honestly I do think this joint is totally overrated and expensive for what you get - or in our case (on two occasions), what you don't get.
Met a friend for lunch who was keen go to The Shack. If you're after organic, gluten free, paleo, vegetarian etc food then make sure you try out this place. For us it was a disappointing experience. After reading the menu for more than 15 min, we decided to go with the zucchini pasta noodles dish. We were expecting to see spiral zucchini. Instead there was a plate of zucchini strips that were all different thicknesses (similar to when you peel it with a peeler). The flavour of the dish was overpowered by the porcini and what seemed like soy sauce. It did not reflect the menu description at all. We did notice that most of the people around us had ordered chicken kebabs which looked and smelled delicious. The counter service was pleasant enough but there were teething problems. I ordered and paid for mineral water only to be told 30 min later that they sold out of mineral water. When getting my money back, I was given the wrong amount (less than what I paid). And then when ordering coffee and tea, they had run out of chai. What are the chances? I had to laugh. If you're keen on what I call alternative food options, you should visit The Shack. I'm sure I'll be back for another go and will definitely order the chicken kebabs.
