Bidrage med feedbackWe had read about this place while planning our trip in France, and reserved MONTHS in advanced. The manager-cook and I discussed wild mushrooms, native food and wine while being served an amazing 5 course meal.
This restaurant absolutely deserves the consecutive Gault Millau awards it has received. In fact, it is more than worthy of a Michelin star...we are surprised it has not already received this honour. For Entrée, the L’Oeuf et Cèpes and the baked crumble were delicious. Un chef very professional. Good wine.
Second time we visited this restaurant (previous one was more than 2 years ago). Extension works have been completed over winter, and restaurant just reopened. As it was a quiet period, only 2 tables taken, so chef took the time to talk about food, and other,... which typically is something he can only do for his first and last visitor. Quality and taste pallet of the food is excellent. Good selection of natural wines. We will be back this summer. Possibility with outdoor terrace (few tables) in summer, with a small romantic corner for 2... Nice added value for the village of Gourdon.
Lot’Antique was the highlight of our experience of French cuisine during our recent visit to the Lot. A small restaurant located in a little street in the center of Gourdon that exudes bijoux courtyard charm yet still possesses an understated elegance matched by its gracious owner, Pilou, a humble, outstanding chef whose innate talents would receive plaudits from renowned chefs the world over. A consummate professional, Pilou is polite, funny, engaging but not intrusive and clearly passionate about every morsel of food he seems to effortlessly create and deliver. The man is a genius because he does everything from the moment he meets and greets you. He is there to assist with wine selection and food choice and is ever present if you need him throughout your dining experience. We have already been to his jewel of a restaurant twice for dinner and once for lunch and plan to return for one last lunch before our return home. Lot'Antique's simple yet comprehensive menu is ‘vraiement, par excellence’. Pilou creates everything from scratch from predominantly local seasonal ingredients that are all of superior quality. This restaurant absolutely deserves the consecutive Gault Millau awards it has received. In fact, it is more than worthy of a Michelin star...we are surprised it has not already received this honour. For Entrée, the L’Oeuf et Cèpes and the baked crumble were mouth wateringly delicious, the Plat Daurade and the Cote de Boeuf and accompanying perfectly cooked vegetables and wonderful sauces were simply superb. As for the desserts, there are simply no words but we will give it a shot....Panna Cotta with strawberries just sublime, the stylishly presented Muit Chocolat, a total homage to hot chocolate indulgent decadence and the array of Sorbets, tantalising and refreshing, a cacophony of taste on the tongue. If you happen to be in Gourdon and you want to sample food at its absolute best, it would be a sacrilege to miss the Lot’Antique, an unforgettable experience that puts other restaurants in the vicinity to shame in terms of price, quality and ambience. If Lot’Antique were situated in Paris, Rome or London, there would be a never ending queue outside its door and one would expect to pay treble the price to sample its outstanding cuisine! Vous êtes un Chef Extrodinaire, Pilou. Long may you and your wonderful restaurant reign supreme in the Lot Department of France.
This tiny little restaurant is, it seems, run by just one very talented man who takes your order, cooks (in a tiny kitchen) and then serves some delicious and amazingly well presented food. Well worth reserving a table here. It was a memorable experience.
