Bidrage med feedbackFood was fantastic, the lady that first sat us to the table was great. The guy that came with the drinks seemed pushy for extra drinks. Long wait between courses, the guy brought the main out and argued about the different sauces that weren't on the course. Finally came round with the main- no apologies. Lady asked about deserts we said yes and then 30 mins later the staff looking round and not coming back. Very poor attitude and the experience was completely different to the last time I went which was about 6 years ago. Also expected for gratuity and they were surprised when we didn't pay it. --- I had quite a disappointing experience at this restaurant. To start, our water order was forgotten, and it was difficult to get the staff's attention due to a large party nearby. After waiting 25 minutes, I ended up getting my own drinks from the bar. When they finally arrived, the drinks were served with too much ice and watered down quickly. We only ordered main courses on a Friday night. I have to say, the kindest thing I can say about the food is that it was merely adequate. Both my wife and I ordered the short rib, which turned out to be tougher than expected. It wasn't tender enough to fall apart; I found myself asking for a steak knife to cut through it. My wife couldn't finish hers either, as it was mostly gristle, and she struggled to cut through it. The mashed potatoes were bland and lacked any hint of smokiness. The sauces were a bit oily, and the green beans tasted like they were cooked by someone who disliked vegetables. They seemed overboiled before being given minimal time in the pan with onions and garlic. The tempura corn was also overcooked, with baby sweet corn that had been boiled until soft and then battered. The batter felt more greasy than fluffy or crunchy, making it a disappointing side. While the street corn was nice, we only received two and a half small pieces. Overall, I'd rate the food about 2 out of 5. It wasn't inedible, but it certainly didn't reflect any skill from the chef. I would have been just as satisfied at a McDonald's, even if their milkshake machine was broken and they didn't have chicken selects. The tomato salad was another letdown. I expected an array of colorful tomatoes, but instead, we received just two chopped tomatoes of the same type, minimally garnished with some coriander and pickled onion. It felt more like two tomatoes thrown together rather than a proper salad. On the positive side, the allergy card was a good idea, but it wasn’t brought to me until after the food arrived, which was a bit late. There was also no bread offered to keep us satisfied while we waited, which added to our impatience. Dish serving time took about 30 minutes after ordering. The total bill was £90 for two mains, an orange juice, an Old Fashioned, three sides, and two sauces, which I found to be poor value for money—1 out of 5. In total, my dining experience rated as follows: - Service: 3 - Atmosphere: 2 - Food: 2 - Price per person: £40-50 --- I hope this captures the essence of your original review while presenting it clearly!
Overall, we enjoyed our experience thanks to the attentive and friendly staff, the excellent main dishes, and the charming setting. As for dietary restrictions, there were plenty of good options for gluten-free diners, with clear indicators on the menu for items that catered to various dietary needs—all marked with flags. There was a small mix-up with our gluten-free burger, but the staff handled it quickly and graciously.
