Iturrizaga Jatetxea - Getxo

We had a wonderful lunch with friends. So good. Mussels, shrimp, fresh tomatoes, cheese, roasted peppers. Excellent wines. Not cheap but worth it.

Popped in for a wine and some bar snacks with the family whilst in port on a cruise. Lovely white rioja (two euro a glass which was great value) and some delicious bar snacks including tortilla, croquetas and some olives with anchovies and peppers. All tasted great and well priced for a quick bite. The main menu was much pricier as you can imagine, however the dishes on it all seemed to be high quality seafood from the local area.

I am used to good food , good drink and a professional service . That is why I have given this restaurant the top stars . Zuriñe and Katlin are 2 nice , smiling and frofessional waitresses . With regard to food and drink , I must say that the 3 times I have been there , having different plates and wines , have been amazing . The product is fresh , the food is served hot when it has to , and the wines in their temperature , vegetables come right from the countryside and bread is crunchy . If it does not rain you may choose eating outside in a nice terrace they have with sun umbrellas . Though this restaurant is placed in the Basque Country , one not always gets good meat and good fish in the same place because sometimes restaurants prefer to specialize themselves more in one or another . That is the reason why I went with my daughter in different ocassions . She is very demanding and with good taste , like me . And those three times we visited this place were perfect in all senses . Besides , it is placed in Getxo in a walking area , facing the boats and ships anchored at the so called Puerto Deportivo , very near the harbour where Cruises and Queen Mary 2 stop for some days . So al in all , to me that I have traveled all around the world , this restaurant is in the list of my ten favorite ones .
