B1895 Tavern - Friendswood

The service was excellent and the food was delicious. What more can you ask for?

We had a new waitress who was not familiar with the menu and had trouble keeping the service running smoothly. However, she will improve with time. Other than that, the food was excellent as usual. The chef does a great job of keeping the menu fresh.

The food at this restaurant is amazing - unique and well executed. However, the service in the "front end" of the restaurant leaves something to be desired. It took a while to be greeted after being seated and the drinks were slow to arrive, although they were very good (try the Socialite or old-fashioned). Unfortunately, we couldn't hear the server describe the featured items due to a combination of a loud environment and the server not speaking loudly or confidently enough. Dessert was also a letdown - the cream brûlée was overcooked and nearly curdled, while the Speculoos dessert was not as described and lacked good taste or consistency. Despite these issues, I am looking forward to returning to try other main dishes.

Even though the restaurant was VERY busy, we were seated immediately. (had reservation but sometimes you still have to wait a few minutes) I had the duck and my husband had the chicken fried steak. Both were excellent. Good presentation on my duck entree. Ambience was good. Wait staff were very professional. All in all, a lovely evening.

Excellent service and attention to detail. The food was wonderfully tasty. We ordered dessert but ran out of time, they had gotten a bit busy. The wine list is good, the wine we had was great. A few more French options would be nice. Overall, will definitely be back!
