Waldrestaurant St. Valentin - Freiburg

We were there on a Saturday in May. The service was extremely attentive and polite. We ordered several nice dishes- lovely, but what stands out was the extraordinary mixed salad platter. Really lovely with fresh herbs.

I have been here many times before and every time I love it. Hidden in the forest of Günterstal valley, but accessible through a forest road and a short walk up a hill, this place is just perfect for a romtic dinner or a lunch break after a nice day or walk in the sorrounding forest.The service is really good and friendly, the food is very good and the prices are still reasonable. We always enjoy coming back...

Warm and nice family friendly place, ordered spätzle which happened to be really (really) salty (were just mine, coz my friend ones were fine), mentioned it to the owner who was as sorry as my spätzle were salty (he was really really sorry), apologized many times, asked me if I wanted a schnapps or an espresso (had to drive and was planning to sleep early so declined both), when the bill came, we didn't pay for that dish... Not many restaurants would go to that extend :)

I absolutely love the place. As a local I am lucky enough to be able to go there whenever I want! ;)The food is delicious, the service is perfect. The location? Hidden in the forest. Quiet and relaxing...perfect for a nice quiet and romantic evening!

During a family visit in the area, we came across this little restaurant, very much hidden away from the town centre, in the forest above Güntherstal. It is indeed a secret spot as you would never find it, if you didn't know about it! I went there with 8 people yesterday and I was so impressed with this place! The outside area is beautiful and the surrounding is super quiet and fabulous for anyone who likes being out in the nature. The service was superb. They are not trying to save money with waiting staff as there were three waiters responsible for the outside area. They were very friendly and efficient. Within a maximum of 5 minutes we all were served our drinks and the food also came out quickly - after 10 minutes of ordering we had our starters and shortly after that our mains. There is a wide variety of choice on the menu - if you can't find something you like, you must be exceptionally picky! Even the vegetarian options are excellent ( I am not sure on the vegan options though). I had ordered the Penne Medico, which were delicious. Also the Pasta alla Chef, which another family member ordered was amazing. Three people had ordered the Schnitzel- big portions and excellent quality. The bill for 8 people (two of it being children) came to around 140 Euros, which is a good price, especially for the excellent quality of food and service! I def want to return to this lovely restaurant in the winter to experience it from the inside! I would highly recommend this to anyone.
