Bidrage med feedbackFamous Dave's is a decent option for dining in, takeout, or catering. While it may not be the most authentic or mind-blowing BBQ joint, the food is good overall. The coleslaw is rich and zesty, while the mac and cheese has a unique twist with added corn. The BBQ ribs are tasty and cooked well, though they may not be award-winning. There could be more options for vegetarian diners, but overall it's a solid choice for those looking for a satisfying BBQ meal. Service and location are average, and the prices are fair.
This Famous Dave's restaurant used to be the best in the Metro Detroit area. However, now it is just like any other average restaurant. They have gotten rid of their daily specials and the food quality has declined. The burnt ends were cold and the rib tips were hard. This restaurant used to be a 5-star place, but they need to go back to their previous standards. The service is still good, but that is not enough to make up for the disappointing food quality.
I'll go in the middle of the road for overall service and food. I sat at the bar and the bartender couldn't be more accommodating. But where I knock the couple stars off is the food. Maybe my expectations were too high since the last time I ate at a Famous Dave's was over 10 years ago in South Dakota. We use to eat at another Famous Dave's out west twice a week cause of how good it was. I couldn't get enough of the brisket when we went. Here the food was ok but nothing to bring me back unless I was in the immediate area and other places were busy.
I had wanted to try them out for quite a while so today we drove by the Flint, Michigan location we stopped to check it out. 3 of us ordered the baby back rib, the st. Louis style ribs, beef brisket, bbq chicken, french fries and side salads. Our waitress was very nice and helpful, very attentive. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. We ordered and the salads came out fast. Side salad with italian and a caesers. Both were good. Then the rest of the food came. The bbq chicken was very nice, cooked well and not burned like a lot of bbq chicken tends to be. The brisket was dissapointing. Small portion, fatty and not much seasoning. The corn muffins are awesome. The baby back ribs were very fatty and could have used a little more cooking. The st louis style ribs were excellent. The portions for the prices charged seemed quite small and they were super stingy on the french fries. They bring your food out on a metal tray and for a $20-30 meal, the tray was half empty. Wtf? Throw some french fries on it! Not sure i will be back but if i am will NOT order the brisket!
The beer is soooooo cold! The glass literally had ice on it. I prefer sitting in the bar area just because of the vide. They have good food; nothing like Kansas City BBQ but it will do for Michigan. I ordered the two meat platter and it was a decent amount of food. The prices are pretty average for the area. Everything here is accessible from the tables, bathroom to parking. So no issues if you have a mobility challenge.
