Bidrage med feedbackWe were endeavoring to find a restaurant for a family dinner that has a private room, centrally located and offered an upscale menu. We found the Capilano Sawmill which offered us the criteria that would look after 7 adults and 4 children, one with a peanut allergy. We arrived at 600PM Wednesday, August /17 and were greeted by a most gracious hostess who escorted us to our dinning room and followed by our server Sanjay who explained the table setting with children's menus placed on the table adjacent to the adult menus. Water was poured before arrival and everything looked perfect including an extra seat for our new grandchild in his baby carrier next to his mother. We were seated and Sanjay went to work, describing menu options, choices for the children and suggested choices that would more fitting for Miss peanut allergy. Wine, cocktail, beer and non alcohol choices were made and before we knew it, Sanjay was back with our orders. Thank you to the bar for their expedience. Food orders were taken, warm buns and butter were offered and he advised us the Executive Chef Rahul Rajpoot would prepare Miss peanut allergies meal separately. Wow. The room was ideal for not only offering an undisturbed environment and allowed the kids to be kids without parents continually wagging their fingers at them. The food was served as ordered with a few forgotten items which we overlooked, being brought in within minutes. Thank you Sawmill for delivering our food choices to perfection. Now desert, you know what it's like. You've eaten, drank and wonder where you're going to put it. Sanjay assisted with choices which we enjoyed so much we had the audacity to complain how much we over ate. Sanjay offered our 8 year old grandson a tour to see where the food is made and soon after he has a servers tray and is picking up cutlery and glasses off the table, go figure. It was fun to watch.We reserved the private room in advance with specific requests, re confirmations were included.
Bubbly waiters but Second rate steak Had the 8 oz New York. Very mediocre. Sliced thin. Why? Cutting corners obviously.
I've been here a few times now and given the price of food here $(20 for a hamburger), and the mistakes made by the servers on both the restaurant and bar side, I can't really give this a recommendation. I'd look elsewhere.
My honey took me here for a romantic bite and it's my first time at this Sawmill location.I have to say the service was great Connie had a great sense of humour and brought just the right amount of attention to our experience.I ordered a Carmel Apple martini, which I had originally experienced in Montana, and for the first time since coming home, our bartender James made THE BEST most yummy rendition. I totally appreciate his desire to please and he even shared his hand written recipe on a piece paper before we left. Good stuff James! We had the Escargot for our starter!And it was fantastic smothered in garlicky tomato and cheese.Hubby had a New York and Lobster. He says he was happy with his meal.I had the 10oz Rib Eye and I had it charbroiled to perfection, served with a delicious horseradish stuffed baked potato and the wonderful mushroom medley.We shared a bottle of Boneshaker Zin that which was a perfect pairing.Ambience was perfect in the restaurant side for some quiet romance.All-in-all I had a completely wonderful experience.Thank you Connie (Waite staff) and James (bartender) for making this our new fav spot, close to home.H
The waiter brought the wrong beer; the French onion soup had a spice that was overpowering the natural flavor. When we questioned the waiter, thinking it was too much oregano, he came back and told us the kitchen used thyme. We were asked if we wanted dessert, we said no but we were not asked if we would like coffee. The manager went twice to another table but never came over to ask how everything was.We have been at this restaurant in the past but will not be back. The following night we went to the Moose Factory, owned by the same company; what a difference in service and food presentation. Atmosphere: too dark
