Chop Steakhouse West Edmonton Stony Plain Road

CHOP is our usual go to for great steak. My rankings were a little lower than what I would want to rate our favourite restaurant and I hope the lowered standards were due to a busy NYE. Our seating was literally right behind the front desk. Server was great but you could tell she was either new, overwhelmed or both—there were times throughout the meal where it would have been nice to have her circle back more regularly. I do not think we were asked if we wanted another drink, so we stuck with only one. My most disappointing part of the night was indeed getting a steak cooked not to our specification—and no, did not send it back as we had waited for our meal already due to it being so busy and did not want to wait for a “make it right” fix. I was quite disappointed that our medium rare steaks were done medium to almost medium well…barely pink in the middle to be honest. First time we have not had a great meal at CHOP. Again, I really hope it is a one off. I can understand the busyness due to the celebrating but then again….celebrating is one of the main reasons people go out to celebrate and should not have to leave feeling like a meal could have been better and have to explain the restaurant’s mistakes or shortcomings. Would usually rate CHOP a 9/10, this outing maybe 6/10.

Chops was great this time! service by nicholas was excellent. the main rib we had was perfect. we ordered medium and it was right! it was tender and the help was more than enough. compliments to the cook. the crème Brûlée was great for dessert. the appetizer of steak bits was great and there was enough for the 2 of us. about all chops was excellent!

This occasion was a sober family that remembered our mother who died. we eat at chop because. eating is about tasty, the service is exemplary, the ambiente is perfect for so many places and it is a great value for her .we ... as a family, have celebrated birthdays, annual days, come together too, and we are really never disappointed. yes. we have tried the other options. chop wins hands down. very recommended for .a culinary experience. not just a meal.
