I absolutely love this restaurant and cannot praise it enough. The service is fantastic and the food is delicious with a great atmosphere! It has quickly become my new favorite spot in Durham. Thank you so much!

El Chapin has a lively atmosphere with dining tables next to a small Guatemalan grocery area. I had a great time trying the Pollo en Crema (served almost like a soup) and a churro, and I especially enjoyed the Guatemalan tortillas.

Absolutely amazing! Very authentic, very fresh, quick, and so tasty! And very mild prices! We are definitely going back many more times!

Oh my goodness, I was hesitant at first, but I have visited three times since then. This place is the closest I can get to Belize, my place of birth. The chicken tamales taste just like my mom used to make. Bless the cook, or cooks, who put their culture into their cooking. Thank you El Chapin, I am extremely grateful.

I am Guatemalan and I love the atmosphere with the marimba music playing. They offer delicious chico bananas fruit and a variety of traditional Guatemalan dishes. The restaurant even has a mini shop inside. Overall, it's a really good experience!
