Bidrage med feedbackSo we know it’s a spoons and expect the normal form of decent beer, slight lack of atmosphere and food that starts the day frozen and lands at the table just about edible! But this place throw in the added lack of taste challenge let me explain! So I order steak and chips plus a beer, all arrives in good time, served by pleasant member of staff who asks if I would like anything else, ‘salt and vinegar’ I reply. I get the usual spoons reply that it’s in the corner, with an eyes down mention that I might struggle for salt. I walk to the advised condiment corner and find vinegar but no salt. I enquire at the bar and I’m told ‘sorry we only have one salt and it must be out’ slightly disbelieving I ask ‘so are you going to walk around the pub and find it for me, or do you want me to?’ the bar tender shrugged and mumbled we just haven’t got any mate (he mentally scanned through the ‘Brexit’ snd ‘covid’ excuses and thought better of it). Disappointed but not yet broken by the lack of customer service (and salt), I returned to my table, to think up another tactic. I returned to the bar, to be greeted by a different bar tender who had witnessed the first exchange. I asked for a full refund due to lack of taste. The the reply was swift and clear ‘if you can’t have salt you are going to request a full refund’ following the yes answer, she clearly made the calculation of how long the refund would take against actually finding the salt and stomped off in search. To be fair, 2 minutes later the salt was duly delivered with a warning that it was the only one in building. Anyway if you want food without salt or just a bit of general fun to find salt, this is the place for you if not probably best avoided!
Absolutely terrible first of all barely any chips, wrong orders arrived, had to clean our own table (before young girl spilt drink) cold bacon on burger which is apparently normal manager didn't really seem to polite, but red haired guy was very helpful he saw us needed cloths to clean spillage and he came over and helped spent £52 won't be returning, food was nice however
Contrary to some reviews, I have to disagree. I have had breakfast at this restaurant on Saturday mornings before shopping and have not been disappointed. The portion size is decent for the price and the food is tasty. While coffee is not included in the price, for an extra £1.20 you can enjoy bottomless Lavazza coffee. The pub is clean and the staff are friendly.
Went for breakfast today and it wasn't very busy. However, many tables were dirty with plates and cups not cleared away. It was difficult to find a clean table as Ariel, who works there, was seen talking to customers instead of cleaning up. I had to have my coffee in a disposable cup because there were no clean ones available. All the clean cups were on dirty tables waiting to be washed. None of the tables were cleaned while we were there. The breakfast I ordered was disappointing as the beans were cold, the egg was rock hard, and the bacon was cold as well. The restaurant needs to improve their cleanliness and get rid of staff who are not willing to work. Sorry Ariel, you need to step up your game. Only one table was shown in the photo, but there were at least 12 tables in a similar state.
I have been using this Wetherspoons pub for several years for our weekly beer and catch up with a group of friends in Dudley. The standard of the food has slowly declined over the years - while it used to be excellent and hot, now it is often tepid. The staff now warn about hot plates but deliver lukewarm food. The coffee, which used to be unlimited for 99p, has also decreased in quality. There is a draft from air vents above each table, possibly due to windows being left open in the ex-shop above. Despite these issues, it remains one of the better pubs in Dudley according to the staff.
