Himalayan Gurkha - Derby

My birthday, evening meal on a Monday night and we wanted to start fairly early. Himalayan Gurkha was up and running at 5:30 and we were dealt with promptly by attentive and courteous staff. The food was outstanding and served promptly. Good value for money and well worth a visit. We will return!

Small group of 7 plus toddler went for a Birthday meal. Booked online. All manner of delicious food choices on the menu. Superb . Didn’t wait long for our meal. It is the best curry I’ve had in Derby. Serving staff very attentive but not bothersome. Orange juice on the house for toddler free poppadoms all round. Competitive prices for amazing food. Doggy bags to take home as large portions. Will definitely eat here again, looking forward for next family members birthday! Would’ve given 5 stars but restaurant a little bit chilly. Be aware of parking restrictions opposite the restaurant but plenty of pay as you park spaces top of street.

Really awful food. We have eaten at Himalayan Gurka pre pandemic and always really enjoyed ourselves. Tonight we got a takeaway paneer masala, chicken korma and a mixed grill and everything tasted the same, bland sweet and with zero seasoning. I called the venue and got told that a masala and a korma are virtually the same, sweet and creamy, by the man that answered the phone, which was unbelievable. Apparently a tandori grill also has no spice in it because it is dry. If you want to pay a lot of money for school dinner curry go ahead but we won't be going back. The restaurant seem to be trading off an old reputation. They have only had 10 review since the start of 2023.

Takeaway. Delivered in good time, without fuss. Fantastic food, possibly the best 'curry ' I 've had. I was really impressed and will be back for more. Will definitely recommend.

Ordered a takeaway for delivery from this restaurant. Really great food. Couldn't fault it. The only fly in the ointment was the delivery. The guy went to the right house number but the wrong street. My neighbour directed him to my street and I saw him on my cctv wandering about like a little lost lamb carrying the takeaway. I went out and spoke to him to confirm it was my order and realised he didn't speak much English. He was unable to read the street name signs. Is there any point having a delivery driver that is unable to read street names? The food was really good so I've given it four stars. It can't be just me that this is happening to if he can't read street names. Disappointing takeaway experience. I will go and have a sit down mean sometime at this restaurant with my wife but won't be ordering any more takeaways for delivery. Sorry for the negative review about the delivery but it needed to be said.
