Hernandez El Sarape - Delavan

Hernandez has always felt like family to us since our first visit to Wisconsin. We highly recommend it for both adults and children. When you sit down and enjoy the chips and salsa, they will quickly offer mild salsa for the kids. The food they serve is authentic and stands out as unique compared to what you typically find in other Mexican restaurants in the area.

As an update, in May 2022, they no longer offer cookies, but we ordered the fried ice cream, which was delicious and served on a cinnamon-sugar tortilla reminiscent of sopapilla. They did increase their prices by $1.25 across the board, which is understandable given the rising costs these days. They even include a note on the menu to inform customers about the price adjustment, so we appreciate their transparency.

Meat? Beans? Delicious. Margaritas? Excellent. The service? The overall experience? Ever since I was a child, this has been the best Mexican food around. I'm not trying to dictate your choices, but if you don't try it, I'll have to call you silly and make it amusingly so!

Food was very good! We all had the chicken chimichangas. The chips and salsa are probably the best I have ever had, even bought a bag of chips to take with! Service was friendly and fast, will definitely be going back!

I had the chef's special carnitas plate, it was really good, I ordered the chicken tenders for my 7 year old it was fresh and made in house. All the food we had was really good. And the service was awesome
