Bidrage med feedbackI thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon beli flower tea with jaggery, along with the hot roti and sambol. It was the perfect treat for a hot Saturday afternoon.
We came across this charming, spacious open kitchen food counter just outside of Sigiriya after walking through the nearby woods. Feeling quite hungry, we decided to order a variety of dishes. We enjoyed crispy hoppers, the classic kotthu with spicy sambol and gravy, and one of the tastiest coconut rotis we've ever had. To wash it all down, we ordered a refreshing cold fruit juice. Overall, Hela Boju Hala serves up delicious traditional Sri Lankan food at an affordable price. The meals are cooked fresh on the spot by local women, who are part of the Women's Agriculture Extension Programme funded by the Ministry of Agriculture. It's a great initiative that supports entrepreneurship and empowers these women to run their own businesses. We highly recommend Hela Boju Hala as a much more enjoyable alternative to the touristy strip in Sigiriya.
The fried rice was delicious. The service was very friendly and the restaurant was very clean.
