Courtyard By Marriott New Orleans Covington/mandeville

The staff was friendly, and the room was comfortable and clean. However, the lobby, elevator, and first floor were uncomfortably hot, which I felt sorry for the front desk clerk and the staff at the Starbucks café. As for the food and drinks, there’s a basic Starbucks within the hotel along with a small café. On a positive note, there is an indoor pool available.

I reserved three king bedrooms and arrived to check in less than 30 minutes later, only to be informed by the front desk that there were no king rooms available. This seems to be a widespread issue with Marriott as a corporation, rather than just an isolated incident at this hotel. On the positive side, the beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and helpful. However, if you book through the Marriott app, don't expect to receive the room type you reserved.

The staff was incredibly friendly, and the place was spotless. The indoor pool was fantastic! However, I did notice that the pool area was a bit slippery for children, and the elevator was out of order during our stay. One of the other guests mentioned that it had also been broken on a previous visit. They really need to improve their maintenance, as I had to assist an elderly couple in carrying their suitcases down the stairs. Overall, I would rate the rooms 5 out of 5.

Pros: locationCons: parking lot is not well lit. Getting in late or leaving early requires a flashlight. Rooms are very dated and tired. I really thought I was transported back to 1995. My bathroom even had one of those weird mirror/light combos.Overall: if you need a place to rest your head after a long day of driving, this will do. Just don’t expect much.
