Ruby's - Cornwall,Isles of Scilly

I visited Ruby's and ordered some beers, not realizing it was actually a cocktail bar as there was no clear signage. Surprisingly, it was very quiet for a Friday evening. The bartender had trouble understanding my request for 'a pint and a half', and there was no draught beer available on the lower level so we had to wait at our table for our drinks. Eventually, a waiter brought a pint to me and seemed confused about who the half was for, despite there being no one else nearby. When it came time to pay, it was difficult to get the attention of either bartender, and the one who finally took our payment had trouble understanding our order. The whole experience felt like being in a pub on a different planet.

Not sure why we stayed to try the drinks. The bar staff were ignorant and rude!! Drinks took almost 25mins to come (2 cocktails and a glass of fizz), we wouldn't have minded as we were sat in the window watching the world go by, except when they arrived, one of the cocktails was so bad I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they had told me it were scooped out the bottom of the dishwasher!!! The bar was not overly busy (at least 3-4 tables empty). The fizz was not champagne and definitely open for a while.. all out terrible experience.

Cosy little cocktail bar with a great selection of drinks. The atmosphere was good and the bartenders were happy to take requests for drinks if you didn’t fancy anything from the menu.

We went into Ruby's Bar for a drink. We ordered our drinks. I said to the Aussie bar person thatI'd like to pay by cash. He said that I could but he could not give me change. I found this very odd. I had a £20 note with which to pay for my drinks; sorry I have no change. This was at 2200 approx. I ended up paying by card, which I did not want to do. He was also a bit miserable and not very welcoming. Get a grip.

Well, you don’t find many places that can make a proper (American style dry martini but they did. Very nice seating area and bar staff.
