Bidrage med feedbackJust back from dinner first things first, we skipped the $15 buffet. The food looked good and fresh and the staff kept checking up and topping up regularly but for basically the same price we had 2 appies, 2 entrees, rice and naan. Bengali mixed grill had a bit of everything with tandoori, tikka, fish and lamb for $14. Good flavors and perfectly cooked. 2 samosa $1.20, 3 naan for $2 all soft and perfect. Service was great, not too too busy but 4 or 5 tables plus take out. With most mains at $10 We'll be back to try more.
Very disappointing. go anywhere else.. This is such a disappointment, I was looking forward to good fish curry, I can get better indian food at the frozen aisle in superstore, There is nothing Bengali about this place. The host tried to tell me it is indian cuisine then why mislead people by naming the restaurant Bengal Fish Curry. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Service needs work but the food is outstanding. Tried the $15 dinner buffet and initially was not expecting much our waiter abandoned another customer mid order to answer the phone, the buffet was not ready yet 30 minutes after it was supposed to be, and the restaurant was pretty empty. Once we started in the food, though, things changed. The fish pakora were crisp and not over battered, the naan bread was excellent, the fish curry was tasty, and the butter chicken very nice. Good quality meats, not the chewy thighs and sinew you get elsewhere, and the spices were very nicely balanced. Add gulab jamun for dessert and you have a heck of a value. I will be coming again.
The restaurant, named Bengali, is operated by Punjabis. I visited today and found the buffet completely empty, with no customers in sight. The owner, who is Punjabi, appeared very frustrated and angry, and her behavior was quite rude as she raised her voice. The customer service was disappointing, and I noticed that there were no Bengali dishes on offer at all—quite misleading given the name of the restaurant. I saw that this restaurant is listed for sale and decided to check it out, but my experience was far from pleasant.
We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. It was our first visit to their new location in Coquitlam, and unfortunately, we were not impressed. We opted out of the buffet, but the food tasted old and unappetizing. I had to ask several times if the food was made fresh, and they assured me it was, but that didn’t seem to be the case. The papads were stale, and when we mentioned it to the staff, nothing was done. It felt as though they had just taken food from the buffet to serve us. The dal makhani lacked flavor, and although we ordered naan, it never arrived. We also ordered a full chicken, but to our surprise, it came with just three legs. This experience was truly disappointing, and we won’t be returning. I recommend finding another place to eat.
