Suban Thai - Coffs Harbour

After reading the reviews on here we decided to try out Suban Thai and get takeaway. I had pad thai and my partner had the seafood laksa. The flavours in mine were delicious! BUT definitely would have been nice to have more vegies and tofu.

I am a local in Coffs and this Restaurant is my go-to Thai food place. Whilst there are some others, they are not as authentic. Noy, the owner originally from Thailand knows how to cook up a storm. She usually also makes visitors welcome with a friendly chat and she always has a smile. Beck the waitress is always up for a chat and is such a funny person.Noy grows some of her own ingredients such as Thai basil and of course chilies. Prices are reasonable and if one goes to the upmarket Jetty strip, one may have to pay double for the same dish. Her Pad Bangkok is awesome as well as all the other dishes.

I came across this restaurant by chance while walking around the area. Having just driven from Sydney, I was in need of a quick tasty and authentic meal. From the outside, it looked promising. Inside I was met by a young lady who made no attempt to respond to my "Sawatdee-krap" and bow. I took the offered menu and she returned with water and told me what the lunch specials were. I chose the Massaman curry. This was served from the heated counter quickly. The serving was generous with well cooked rice. A good choice for $15 or so.

The most delicious Thai food I have had in a very long time. The Panang curry is easily the best I have had EVER. Flavours of traditional Thai food, everything is fresh and tasty. Just like I was back home :) Will definitely come back the we are in town. Thanks :)

We had satay chicken sticks which were yum.. Sauce was beautiful. Fish cakeswere rubbery. Choo Chee Kong prawns were lovely and pad kee maow was excellent. However this dish usually comes with flat noodle so a bit disappointing. Flavors of both dishes was excellent. Only down side of this place was a very stressed and unsmiling Australian waitress who was disengaged and made us feel like we were really putting her out by being there. Unfortunate because it ruones ,what could have been a nice meal. Honestly? Some people should NOT work in hospitality! Ever! My advice?-get takeaway and enjoy at home!
