Casa Del Rio - Christiansburg

I've never visited a Mexican restaurant where the food was completely devoid of flavor—there was absolutely none. It wasn't spicy, it wasn't savory... just nothing at all. Such a letdown! I was curious why the place was so empty during lunch, and now I understand. The steak taco was decent, but I tried all the salsas at the salsa bar, and they lacked any taste. On a positive note, the margarita was good!

The food was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. The service was prompt and friendly.

I've visited several Mexican restaurants since coming to Blacksburg in 2017, and this one truly stands out. The rice is flavorful, unlike the bland offerings at El Rods; it's infused with small vegetables and spices. The salsa is a must-try as well, and there's a complimentary salsa bar with various options for everyone at the table. The service was excellent, and they were very accommodating to my large group. The bar is well-stocked and the atmosphere is inviting. I definitely plan to return.

The restaurant has a spacious layout, and when I arrived at 11:30, I was the only customer there. The food was good, although the service could have been more attentive; however, the waitstaff was friendly. I wasn't a fan of the salsa bar, which wasn’t really my preference, and as an older individual, I found it difficult to read the labels at the bar. I also noticed that the prices were a bit higher than I anticipated since the website hadn’t been updated. As for parking, be cautious when navigating the lot as it’s in need of repairs.

We had a lovely, quiet meal featuring street tacos, and the waitress was lively and very friendly. We also liked the variety at the salsa bar! Don’t forget about this place!
