Milwood Smokehouse - Charlotte

Oh my goodness, this restaurant exceeded my expectations by far. I was skeptical because I come from a place with great BBQ spots, but this place proved me wrong. The ribs were so tender, the baked beans were full of meat, the hush puppies were perfectly sweet, the pickles had a tangy kick, and the sauces were delicious. Our server Matthew was outstanding, knowledgeable about the food and gave us great recommendations.

The restaurant is decent, but Midwest BBQ is superior. I ordered the chopped (shredded) brisket sandwich with baked beans. The Lone Star sandwich with sliced brisket is the better choice if you prefer thicker pieces of meat. The Midwood BBQ sauce is more tangy than sweet. The cornbread skillet is tasty. They have a nice outdoor patio and good service.

I'm not a fan of nc BBQ but that's more of a me problem than this restaurant's problem. I would just prefer a more savory less vinegar taste.

AMAZING food. Best SC BBQ I've had in ages. The NC version was damn good too.

My first visit with colleagues and I enjoyed everything! My favorite surprise was seeing heart throbs of the 60s 80s in the ladies' room.
