The Old Gate Inn - Canterbury

Really nice wetherspoons lies on the other side of the river opposite westgate tower. I like that it is a beautiful little to sit against the window, as well as many tables and stands. we ordered on the app and the drinks came out really quickly, and eating was not far behind what was bought by two employees. I tried the new Chargrill chicken that they recently added to the menu and it was really nice! it came with some chips and a small pot gravy. it was all very tasteful. I noticed while I sat to eat my dinner dinner that they can draw a really useful touch screen display near the bar, where they can draw all allergy information for everything on the menu. I thought that would be really useful for people who don't want to ask about the bar if it's busy. overall very impressed by my visit here, the staff was really attentive and eating was nice. would definitely come back.

I booked via your app on Sunday morning to then arrive and for them to not even have my booking on their system. I showed my confirmation to staff and didn’t even get an apology

The place and food themselves are good and we will be returning. However don’t book via open table. The staff weren’t even aware of what it was and our booking had changed from people at showing on the app to people at on their counter booking system. Despite thus they were very good and worked hard to accommodate us with lovely service. In future I’ll book by phone directly

Lovely food. I like the Vintage inn chain. You know what you are getting but it doesn't feel like a big chain . We enjoyed a camembert to share and ham hock. The coconut milk sorbet was lovely and huge to . We ate there before a concert at the cricket ground . Much tastier and good value
