The Hideout Calgary South

We booked a table for 13 for a simple 40th birthday party on the evening of March 5. It was well located and set. We were pleasantly greeted.. Service was excellent. Our server, Ryan was very friendly and efficient, serving us well, even bringing out plates and forks for a special cake we brought. We couldn’t have asked for more. We dropped in to check out the live music on a Saturday evening, close to our home in South Calgary. We found the service to be quick and friendly and the food was great. That combined with the live music made for an enjoyable night, I expect we will be back! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner

The name suits the place. It 's a gem tucked away in the suburbs. Shawnessy area was slammed, every restaurant had a long wait. We ventured across McLeod to the hideout and basically had the place to ourselves. The service was friendly (but not hovering in that annoying way) and attentive. The food was good 'ole reliable pub food. I had fish 'n chips, it wasn 't the best I 've had but it was good for suburbia. My husband had a burger and enjoyed it. They have good beer selections too. Next time we go it will be a Saturday night as they often have live music then!

Live music is probably the only good thing about this place. Calamari was so sour I think they dumped the entire lemon in there, was hard to finish but i dont waste food so i finished it.... We also didnt actually get utensils to even eat our food, had to ask our friends table to use theirs. Ridiculous. We also saw a menu on the table that said buy one get half off appie and asked the waitress and ordered the appies, she didnt tell us that it was a summer promo until we had to pay. If you advertise as such you need to either tell us ahead of time or we pay as advertised. all in all, only gave 2 stars for the live music. Was it really difficult to come tell us that the promo ended so we can decide whether to order something else? Also no utensils?
