Sushi Bistro Anzu - Calgary

The food at the restaurant was quite good. The fish and salad were both fresh, and I found the miso soup enjoyable. I ordered the lunch sushi and ramen. However, I would have preferred more variety in the sushi combo, as all 12 pieces were California rolls. The ramen was flavorful, but it wasn't as spicy as I had anticipated based on the menu description. Unfortunately, the service left something to be desired; I had to flag down the waitress every time I needed something, including asking for a water refill on two occasions. Additionally, the prices on the online menu need to be updated. Overall, they offer a nice selection of lunch combos, with prices around $17 per person.

In short, Anzu Sushi is a fantastic choice for a tasty and affordable lunch. The value of their lunch offerings is remarkable, and I highly recommend it to anyone in search of a delicious meal. However, be aware that parking can be a bit tricky during peak hours, and the spaces in front of the restaurant are often quite limited.

The sushi and sashimi at this restaurant are outstanding, and the ramen soup is excellent too. Since I work close by, this place is my go-to for a quick but delicious lunch or dinner. I'm particularly a fan of the salmon sashimi and the pork tonkatsu ramen.

After our favorite local sushi spot closed, we started looking for a new place nearby and stumbled upon Anzu. The staff here is always friendly and polite, which is a nice touch! The quality of the food can fluctuate from day to day, particularly the sushi rice, but it's generally quite good. That said, I find it a bit pricey, especially regarding the portion sizes of the sashimi when compared to the well-known Shikiji just down the street, as well as some other dishes. However, if you visit during lunchtime or take advantage of the dinner specials, you'll definitely get your money's worth. The ambiance is lovely, though the bench seating can be a bit uncomfortable. For us, the lunch specials are the best choice, but overall, it's a pleasant little place to enjoy a meal.

I absolutely love this restaurant; it offers some of the best Japanese food in Calgary. I recently returned from a trip to Japan, and I can confidently say that this place comes remarkably close to an authentic experience. While some dishes might be a bit pricey, they are definitely worth it. Our server was incredibly friendly as well. I highly recommend eating here!
