The Palm Lounge - Brownsville

The food and drinks were enjoyable, and the server was very friendly.

The restaurant offers typical bar and grill dishes. The appetizers are tasty, and the food portions are generous. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the service is attentive. It's conveniently located, and the prices are reasonable. It's a fantastic spot for meeting friends to chat or simply relax together.

Parking in downtown Brownsville is quite difficult, but that's not the restaurant's fault. We arrived in the early afternoon when there was only one other table occupied. The place has undergone a complete transformation from its previous dive bar status. I ordered shrimp tacos while my husband had the shrimp plate. My tacos were tasty; the shrimp was coated in a mix of cornmeal and flour and was perfectly seasoned and cooked—not chewy or overdone. However, the tortillas for the tacos could have been warmer, and my husband wasn't satisfied with the rice. The green tea was refreshing. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired, especially considering we were only one of two tables. I had to go to the bar to request refills, and they forgot to bring us water. I rated them four stars because the shrimp was genuinely excellent. As the daughter of a shrimper, I can confidently say those were gulf shrimp prepared just right. We definitely plan to return and try one of their hot dogs, which I've heard great things about. To be continued...

The Palm Lounge is a historic downtown restaurant and bar. They are known for their delicious burgers, my favorite is the jalapeno burger. I also very much enjoy their jalapeno poppers, which are stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon thenserved on a corn tortilla like a taco with grilled onions on the side, amazing. The micheladas are good too! Update: Had theSeattle-Style Dog today, it was great. I also tried the ceviche tostada, yummy ????????

This restaurant used to be quite good, so I'm willing to give it another chance in the future. However, the kitchen was out of some menu items, and one of my friends had to wait a long time for their dish. The Mexican rice on my plate was undercooked and only semi-edible. The atmosphere felt a bit dull and gloomy. On a positive note, the drinks were great, and the service was commendable. However, I noticed that the prices on the menu didn't match what we were charged; it seemed to be off by $1 for each item we ordered. I recommend double-checking your bill before settling up.
