Gyro World Astoria - Broad Channel

There are several well-known Greek restaurants in the area, but I was in search of a quick bite when I stumbled upon Gyro World. I was aware of what to expect. I ordered the halloumi platter, which came with a generous amount of food—grilled halloumi, cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, and a choice of soup or salad. I found the avgolemono soup to be unnecessarily salty and lacking in lemon flavor. Luckily, the platter included a lemon wedge, which helped improve the soup and the lemon potatoes. The halloumi was decent, though not the best I’ve had. However, the pita felt like an afterthought—dense and chewy instead of light and scrumptious. I would definitely stop by again if I’m in the area and looking for a quick meal.

The food was average for the price, and there was no service to speak of. Additionally, the presentation of the dishes was quite poor.
