Top O’th’ Hill Tavern - Bridgewater

I visited this tavern on September 21, 2018, to meet a friend halfway between her location in Flanders and mine in Matawan. The entrance can be a bit hard to spot due to the surrounding hill, but it's definitely worth seeking out. Once inside, we ordered drinks and took our time catching up, and the waitress was accommodating and patient, ensuring we didn’t feel rushed. I opted for the bacon cheddar burger, which was cooked to perfection, featuring a lightly toasted bun and delicious meat and cheese. After our meal, my friend and I continued chatting for another hour, and again, we were given ample time without any pressure. The interior has a charming pub-like atmosphere, complete with exposed ceiling beams, wooden floors, and a spacious bar. Surrounded by the tall trees on the hillside, it really feels like you’re in a cozy Irish pub. This place is truly a local treasure.

I've visited this restaurant several times, and it's consistently been a great experience. The menu features classic tavern fare like burgers, sandwiches, fries, salads, entrees, and desserts, all of which are delicious. The waitress is always on point with our orders, friendly, has an impressive memory, and truly pays attention to her customers—excellent service all around. It's a fantastic casual spot for dining and socializing. Additionally, there's a stunning 320-year-old white oak tree next to the parking area that adds to the charm of the place.

Charming diner and bar! We visited for dinner recently and had a wonderful experience. I chose the smoked pork chops, while my partner went for a cheesesteak. Everything was delicious and the prices are fantastic. There was one waitress who also served as the bartender; even though the place was bustling, she always made sure we were taken care of without delay. Truly impressive! We will definitely return!

This was a great spot to visit after being in the area for a few hours. Seems like a speak easy. Nice chilled environment and laid back. Food was great and well done.

This place isn?t going to win any awards for their friendliness but it hit the right spot for the occasion: we were looking for some bar/tavern food and a beer after a nearby hike. Food was good, fries were great, beer was cold. Prices were dirt cheap.
