Bidrage med feedback**Management Decline:** For years, The Red Lion thrived under the guidance of an effective manager who fostered a warm and energetic environment that kept customers coming back. This all changed when an inexperienced manager from The Doctor's Tonic in Welwyn Garden City took over, steering the pub in a new direction with decisions that have raised concerns about the venue's future. **Musical Tradition Disrupted:** One of the most jarring changes was the abrupt cancellation of long-standing music gigs, replaced by a new musical direction tailored to the new manager's personal tastes. This shift alienated loyal patrons who had grown to expect specific musical genres and a certain ambiance, effectively dismantling the heart and soul of The Red Lion's music scene. **Scruffy Staff and Lack of Professionalism:** Additionally, there are concerns about the professionalism under the new management. It has been noted that the new landlady sometimes shows up on her days off appearing disheveled and carrying takeaway food, which raises questions about her dedication and the standards she sets for both staff and patrons. **Unpleasant Staff Behavior:** Compounding the pub's decline is the behavior of the staff, who patrons report as rude, attempting to adopt a quirky persona that often comes across as awkward instead of charming. This cultural shift among the staff has damaged the once friendly and inviting atmosphere that was a hallmark of The Red Lion. **Conclusion:** Regrettably, The Red Lion in Stevenage Old Town has transformed from a thriving center of music and community into a mere shadow of its former self. The poor decisions of the inexperienced manager, including disrupting the music scene and neglecting professional standards, have driven away long-time patrons and visitors. Indeed, the saying, "if it’s not broke, don’t fix it," applies here, as a venue that once cultivated a loyal customer base now risks becoming a cautionary tale of poor management. While a small group of locals might support the new direction, they may be unaware of the disappointment felt by those who loved The Red Lion for years. Whether the pub can regain its former glory is uncertain, but it is evident that the current changes have left many patrons longing for the spirit and atmosphere that The Red Lion used to provide. **Price per person:** £1–10 **Food:** 2/5 **Service:** 3/5 **Atmosphere:** 4/5 Overall, for a cost-effective meal, the pricing is reasonable, but the food quality leaves much to be desired. The service was average, and while the atmosphere was pleasant, it wasn't enough to elevate the dining experience.
