Bidrage med feedbackSue, the owner, is fantastic! I had a delicious yellow perch fish and chips combo, while my family enjoyed the poutine with coleslaw, paired with an ice-cold drink from their refrigerator. I noticed others were ordering their fish and chips, and many were also taking home fresh and frozen seafood for their family meals. As of the end of October 2022, they have closed on Mondays and Tuesdays due to staffing shortages, but the market is open year-round from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with takeout available every day from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and say hello. What I love about Out of The Blue Seafood Market is their commitment to the community. Co-owner Jamie is a passionate advocate for mental health and has done remarkable work raising funds for mental health awareness. In 2021, he launched a campaign called Grow The FRO, recognizing that many were sporting pandemic haircuts due to business closures. Jamie has provided support to those in need and helped many find resources for their mental health. Jamie and his supporters successfully reached their fundraising goal to benefit rural mental health through the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Elgin Middlesex. Absolutely delicious fish! I started eating fish because of Sue! They smoke their own fish and prepare their own clam chowder. This is the best place for fantastic fish!
To Vera L. I am sorry but I consider you the rude person for coming in at 6.25 for a meal when you know they close at 7. It takes at least 15 minutes to prepare the meal and that means you would be sitting there after 7 p.m. I am sure their employees do not get paid overtime! Put yourself in the workers position as they probably make not much more than the minimum wage! I have found them to be gracious and helpful when we have been there!
We've been here several dozen times have recommended it to many friends. Unfortunately our last visit was so disappointing, we will not come back. We drove from Grand Bend, a 25 minute trip, and were told at 6:25 that eat-in orders were not accepted after 6:30pm. After discussing it with the rude counter person for a couple of minutes, we pointed out at 6:27 that it wasn't quite 6:30. She proceeded to tell us that she was very tired and instructed us to leave home earlier next time. Well, there won't be a next time. I understand the service industry can be taxing, and have respect for the people who do this type of work but a surly attitude is never acceptable. What she could have said instead was that they close at 7:00 and she'd be happy to serve us as long as we were mindful of that. This was not the first incident of her rudeness, but in this case it was the last straw. We no longer recommend Out of the Blue, but share this story instead. It's a shame because the food was quite good.
I ordered the family combo, which included 2 pounds of fish in four different varieties. It was amazing—definitely the best-tasting fish I’ve had around!
