Bar Jean - Biarritz

We simply love this place_Every time we're on holiday at Biarritz__Sure it's busy, especially during Holidays or Weekends.

We came here on the recommendation of our hotel It was only a few minute walk from Hotel Saint Julien We came early evening to take some tapas.

This definitely a good spot to have a nice tapas and hang out with friendsThe food is delicious and very reasonable.

We arrived first night and had excellent pinxtos and local food - it is the most happening place in town -

Bar Jean provided me with the WORST culinary experience I have ever had in my entire life. As one arrives at the restaurant, the packed exterior and laissez-faire ambiance suggests a pleasant evening, however this is merely a facade to conceal the horrendous service and despicable treatment towards tourists. A brief summary of my evening: My family and I were seated, handed the menu, waited 30minutes to place our order (after requesting to do so several times), waited 45minutes until my salad arrived (I had ordered two entrees, they only brought me one), ate my salad, waited 15minutes for the waitress to let me know that my dish would not be able to be prepared, called the son of the manager and explained how I was waiting for over an hour to eat, he consulted his father who said I was free to leave, I left the restaurant just to be chased after the son and a waiter carrying a portable table and my order, I then explained how this was a total LACK OF RESPECT only to hear that he DID NOT CARE FOR I WAS A TOURIST AND HE WOULD NEVER SEE ME AGAIN. If the blatant sarcasm and complete disregard for costumers was not enough, Bar Jean is not capable of handling more than a couple of small tables with fairly basic orders. after all this, it amazes me that a restaurant like this manages to keep functioning. A word of advice for tourists: apparently our money is not as green as those of the french, be prepared to be mistreated at this sad excuse of an establishment. PS - The sidewalk in front of the restaurant is crawling with cockroaches, I recommend people to look closely at their meals. Food for thought.
