Bidrage med feedbackBeen here a couple of times and this last time was absolutely amazing! Went there to celebrate a birthday and the entire staff was great. The head chef, Jimmy took great care of us and provided a lot of laughs while preparing our sushi and in-between. The sushi here is the best you can get in Baton Rouge in my opinion from the Sashimi Dinner to the Love at First Bite Roll, even the miso is top tier (my favorite in BR . All the ingredients tasted fresh, the drinks were really good, and just the overall atmosphere was great. Highly recommend Umami.
Absolutely delicious and well planned Omakase. Hands down the best I have had across the states. The order and presentation matched the taste and made each set more exciting. Two of my coworkers tried Omakase here for the first time and couldn’t stop raving about it. I will be stopping by again on my next work trip.
Great place to chill and amazing sushi can't beat it!
I came in around 8 pm. There was one open table, but I had to wait for 15 minutes to get a table. I am not sure about the policy of this restaurant, but it is acceptable. I ordered sake(salmon) nigiri and kanpeki ramen. While sushi's temperature and flavor were great, but I had to question the way of cut and trim. Never seen a skin on salmon before, even at the high-end sushiya. Ramen was made by the factory, all the way, hopefully/unhopefully at the same time, except the egg and enoki. Broth, seasoning, noodles, menma, shiitake, and chili were typical store-bought materials. Chashu was questionable, but I assume that it is also store-bought but just torched after warming them up. Noodles were not fully taken care of. It was sticking together, and it was a whole stuff under the soup. I assume that the chef took it out too early before the soup and toppings getting ready. But egg. Oh my, the reason why I said hopefully and unhopefully at the same time is because of its flavor. If you bought it from a store, throw them away. If not, your chef needs to learn a basic fundamental of cooking from the beginning again. Ajitamago is meant to be raw for yolk, just like a sunny side up fried egg. Besides the fact it was fully cooked, the biggest problem it had was its flavor. It was sour. I wasn't sure if the flavor was coming from its condition or a mistake during the prep. But it was too sour, so I don't even want to have another bite of it. The only reason why I am giving 2 stars is because of the server's attitude. Unfortunately, I forgot her name, but she was being really nice while she was catching up the workload. Mistakes can happen. I hope it was just a mistake on one night. Thank you for the meal.
I recently tried the sushi at Umami Japanese Bistro, and while it was good, it didn’t quite stand out. The fish was fresh, and the presentation was nice, but the flavors were more on the average side—nothing particularly memorable. For the quality, I found the prices to be a bit on the higher side. It’s a decent spot if you’re craving sushi, but it’s not a place I’d go out of my way to visit again.
