What a wonderful dinner! We started with cocktails, I had the Lucille Ball Martini—Yummy! My husband had the classic house salad and the Catfish and Crawfish. He loved it. I had the cucumber, tomato, onion salad then the catch of the day. I loved it. Our server was adorable and excellent. We sat on their small patio. The restaurant was recommended to us by a server at the Grand National Golf Course. Totally a wonderful experience. Thank you.
I had quite possibly my worst dining experience at a respected restaraunt the other night at Hamilton's on Magnolia. Do not get me wrong, the food was fantastic and my server, Olivia, though inatentive, was very sweet.I ordered the 8 oz filet which came with a mushroom and onion ragout with a side of whipped yukon gold potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly, the ragout was a great addition, and the mashed potatoes were a perfect side.About fifteen minutes into eating, I was startled by the noise of a vacuum cleaner. Servers were literally vacuuming the restaurant while another table and I were trying to eat our meals in peace. I did not see my server for the entire time the vacuum was running (about 10 minutes) and when I finally talked to a manager (I was told she was a manager but she was obviosuly another server at the table beside me), the vacuuming had ended.Despite having a delicious meal, I will never eat here again and will never recommend it to my many friends who frequent the Auburn area. With tax and tip, I spent well over $60 in the restaurant, and the least I could ask is a quiet place to eat.
Service was good, they were very busy, food was delicious.
We asked to sit outside on a lovely Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. We were seated and promptly forgotten about! After over 20 minutes, I went inside to see if we could get drinks, or at least water while we waited. There was no host, no servers, and even no bartender to be found. I waited at least give minutes before starting to walk back towards the kitchen area. When someone finally noticed, I asked them if we could get drinks as no one has even come with waters yet. The response was are you sitting outside? , as if this was a common failure. Well, we did get served, but after the order finally came, the disappearing act followed again. The food was good (not spectacular) and the minimum service was fair enough. However, I should never have to hunt down my server or beg for a drink refill of to have the check delivered. This restaurant was great when we have come for dinner, but it looks like ownership is getting cheap and understaffing during non-peak times. My recommendation is to reduce your hours of operations, don 't stay open for lunch if you can 't provide enough servers for your customers, just stick to dinner only.
