Carruthers - Astoria

The restaurant seemed like a perfect choice for a date night, and I’m usually willing to pay a little extra for delicious food. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The Brussels sprouts and asparagus were not cooked properly, and the bourbon gravy reduction fell short; it wasn't executed well or reduced enough. The other elements of the meal were decent, but nothing special. Maybe it was just a bad night for them, but it turned out to be an expensive mistake for me.

We had reservations for 5:15 but didn't get main course until 6:50 after telling three staff members. Had to request water to be filled. People around us that came in after us got thru full meal and left with doggy bags, but we were still waiting. Waitress nice and attentive at first, then suddenly was bartending and left us. Something going on in back kitchen as seemed like plenty of staff. Food was fine but system needs fixing. Hope they get it figured out as atmosphere is great.

Current menu as of AUGUST 31 2024 Excellent food. The 1/2 salad I big so don't get the full salad unless that's all your ordering.

We loved our dinner at Carruthers! My partner and I got engaged and had a celebratory dinner here. The staff took great care of, ensuring we had a window view, and his steak was phenomenal. Highly recommend!

Came Sunday afternoon and were greeted right away with a smile. The last 3 trips we were welcomed with a Do you have a reservation (even in the winter when they had a single table seated). We 're locals so I get they took a hard stance during Covid. Sat at the bar and was served by Rae, she was a Rockstar. Super professional and interested in hearing feedback immediately. Thai Brussel sprouts weren 't as caramelized and sauce is not as thick as it use to be but still would order again. We will definitely be back!
