Tamales Alebrijes De Oaxaca - Apex

I was not aware NC had tamales of this caliber. These are authentic Mexican tamales. Not fake tamales from Some margarita ville restaurant. Def worth the 30 minute drive. If you 're looking for real Mexican tamales this is the place. They also have the tamales with the banana leaves which are spicy and delicious. Last thing, their champurrado is so delicious. Reminds me of my grandmas.

My son has been dying to try tamales since seeing them on a show last week. We happened to drive by Apex and see this food truck. We ordered the pork tamale with Salsa Roja. It was delicious! Not overly spicy, yet it had tons of flavor and a kick of heat. He's hooked! He already asked to go back tomorrow!

Stopped by for lunch and had two tamales with green sauce and they were absolutely wonderful. I got one pork and one chicken. I liked the pork the best and I can't wait to go back to try the cheese and jalapeño tamale. They open 06:30 AM and I am not sure what time they close. I hope they will be here for a while.

The tamales and service were fantastic, and the prices were very reasonable. I typically prefer pork with green sauce, but I have to say that the chicken with red sauce might have been my favorite. I will definitely return!
