Now, onto the pizza. I posted a picture of it, and it looked delicious when we opened the box. We got pepperoni and mushroom with extra cheese. Unfortunately, the dough was undercooked; it was very doughy and overly sweet, like it had too much sugar in it. The sauce was also sweet, but not in a good way. While there was plenty of cheese, there was barely any pepperoni and even fewer mushrooms. Overall, the pizza was just okay—definitely nothing like Leonardi's! Will we try it again? Maybe, maybe not. It was quite pricey, and I think Bocce is much better.
I've been on the hunt for great pizza ever since Leonardi's closed, and I’m thrilled to say that I've found it! Yesterday, I ordered a large double cheese, double pepperoni pizza with half of it topped with onions, cooked well done. I didn't peek in the box until I got home, and when I opened it, it was love at first sight! The pizza was absolutely delicious, made with very fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. This will definitely be my go-to pizza place from now on! I give them two thumbs up, and the staff were exceptionally polite and patient while I was placing my order. Bailey Ave. Pizza North has gained a loyal customer in me, and I can't wait to try more items from their menu.
I gave this place one last chance, but once again, I was disappointed! The first time our pizza was undercooked and messy, and this time it was burnt. They don't compare to Leonardi's at all. I won't be returning; their inconsistency has led to nothing but bad experiences.
Regarding my earlier experience: This is for those who usually go to Bocce. Does this pizza taste like Bocce's? Yes and no. If you're a fan of Bocce, you should definitely give this a try. This was my first visit to Bailey Ave Pizza, and I ordered a half-sized pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. **Appearance:** The pizza was loaded with toppings and rectangular instead of half-circular, cut into eight equal squares. I was impressed with the size and presentation; the pizza filled the box completely, corner to corner. You could barely see the cheese under all the toppings, which is a good sign—there was some nice cup and char on the pepperoni. **First Bite:** Lifting a slice, I noticed it had some weight to it and some droop from the abundance of toppings. That’s fine with me—I prefer a tender crust. The first bite was a pleasant surprise! The pizza was nice and fresh, with a chewy texture that wasn’t too soft. There was a lovely mix of crunch and chew. I think I even detected a hint of buttery flavor, which I liked. The texture and taste were fresh and enjoyable. And those toppings! I wonder if this generous portion is typical or just an extra touch since they’re newly opened and trying to impress. With so many toppings, it was easy for bites to come off with more than expected, and honestly, that didn’t bother me at all. They were delicious. **Taste Profile:** The pepperoni had a nice spice to it, and it was thinner and more uniform in size compared to Bocce's—perfect little circles with some dark charred edges and little pools of grease. I found the mushrooms to be just like Bocce's—plenty of them and very good. The sauce was decent, not overdone, with no surprise globs. I enjoy an occasional extra puddle of sauce, but that wasn’t the case this time. I found the sauce flavor similar to Bocce's, leaning towards sweet rather than overly garlicky. As for the cheese, it was mostly hidden beneath the toppings, but it was fine—perhaps even perfect—because it did its job: holding everything together and providing that gooey texture. **Crust:** This pizza has toppings that stretch all the way to the edge, leaving just the right amount of crust for a satisfying chew. It offers enough to enjoy that end-piece without overpowering the pizza itself. There’s less emphasis on the crust compared to Bocce’s, but I don’t mind. With more pizza to enjoy than just plain crust, I’m all for it! **Final Impression:** So, would I order from Bailey again? Absolutely! Even though the prices are a bit higher, the quality of the product makes it worth it—at least for this pizza. I’m excited to see how they perform in the neighborhood, especially in such a competitive area. Best of luck to them! (Oh, and by the way, I met the owner during my visit, and he was fantastic—engaging and genuinely caring. I was glad to have met him on my first visit!)
