Watercress Line Railway Dining

We had a lovely day out with our granddaughter, though the weather was a bit annoying. We had to take the train from Alton to attend the Watercress Festival in Alresford, but unfortunately, the train didn't go all the way to Alresford, which was disappointing. I believe it would have been beneficial for both the train operators and the festival attendees if it had. On a positive note, the staff at all the stations we visited were friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend booking tickets in advance, as it can save you some money. Also, be sure to check their website for events, as that can impact your plans. We're looking forward to taking our granddaughter back for the weekend of the Queen’s Jubilee, as they will have plenty of Thomas the Tank Engine activities.

We had a fantastic day celebrating my father's 88th birthday. The staff were all incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, without being overly intrusive. One member of our party uses a mobility scooter, and we were pleased to find that most areas were accessible. Additionally, the railway staff provided us with a ramp to assist in getting our party member on and off the train, which was greatly appreciated.

We visited Steam Lighting for a family outing, and it was definitely worth it. Parking can be a bit limited, so I recommend arriving about 10 minutes before the train departs. The train itself is gorgeous, with everything beautifully illuminated both inside and out—my photos really don't do it justice. You can grab coffee and snacks in Alresford and Alton. It's great that they have reserved seating, ensuring you have a guaranteed spot. The kids absolutely loved it, both the little ones and the older ones! There are also lights along the track, which was a new experience for most of us and quite pleasantly surprising.

We came here for Steam lighting and it was absolutely wonderful! the illuminated kutschen looked amazing, they were comfortable inside, the Christmas music was great, the high teeboxes that were prepared for us tasty and a huge effort had gone to make them. a really wonderful festive steam experience!

Great day out at a reasonable price. Plenty of helpful staff to help you when needed. A variety of steam diesel locomotives to see and admire.
