Iron Gate Cafe - Albany

This restaurant is a charming little place, but it's not living up to the hype. While the presentation of the food was impressive, the flavors were lacking. The Eggs Benedict had overly runny eggs and the home fries were bland. The staff were friendly and attentive. Parking was a major issue, and the outdoor seating was a highlight. Overall, we decided to give it a try due to its reputation, but we probably won't be returning.

This restaurant is a fantastic spot for brunch. The atmosphere is charming both inside and out. The bartender/barista, who had a ponytail and was a musician, was extremely friendly and attentive. The hostess and servers were clearly hardworking and had wonderful attitudes. Despite being busy, they continued to take great care of all the guests. I ordered the raspberry Brie French toast and a cider mimosa, both of which were delicious.

Restroom breaks and gas fill-ups are essential on road trips, but finding good food can be a challenge. On a journey from West Connecticut to Lake Champlain, I stopped in Albany based on a recommendation from my brother-in-law to try the Iron Gate Cafe. Despite a 45-minute wait, the outdoor dining space we were seated in was charming. I ordered a simple BLT and iced coffee, while other family members opted for variations of sandwiches and sourdough bread. The dishes were perfectly balanced and satisfying, with the highlight being the flavorful homefries. Despite the layout challenges of the old building, the servers were fast and efficient. The only downside was the limited restroom options. Overall, Iron Gate Cafe proved to be a delightful stop on our road trip.

Delicious food; lots of variety on their menu whether you're looking for breakfast or lunch, and with high-quality ingredients you can't really go wrong no matter what you pick. The bacon on the sandwiches was crispy. Real maple syrup was served with thefrench toast. Service was good and organized even though it was busy, but I wouldn't eat here if I was short on time. Wouldvisit again.

Beautiful atmosphere, fast kitchen, great service. we had the vegan bfast sandwich and vegan French toast. the sandwich was enormous with delicious bread and cheese. French toast was so delicious and not too sweet. fresh coffee and mandelmilch. they can join the waiting list on their website.
