Murphy's offers the best fish and chips in Akaroa. We've tried other places but always return to Murphy's. The fish fillets are freshly caught, generous in size, and perfectly battered. The chips are also quite good. It's best to take your order to the waterfront and enjoy your meal there, as the outdoor seating at Murphy's isn't the most appealing.

I absolutely loved the salmon; it’s a must-try! It’s crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They serve fresh fish daily, making it arguably the best fish and chips restaurant in New Zealand. It’s only about a 5-minute walk from the main street. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere with some outdoor seating available when the weather allows.

My partner and I have been to fish and chips stores all over New Zealand and we did not expect to find the best one here in Akaroa. Freshly caught fish, cooked to perfection, reasonable prices and generous portions! Recommended if you're in Akaroa

Amazing fish and chips! Huge portions and the quality was excellent. They catch their own fish and only serve it fresh never frozen. Chips are fried to perfection. This place is excellent.
